Research Resource: RTEC

The ten Regional Technology in Education Centers (RTECs) sponsored by the USED are sources of research-based advice on planning for technology. Their materials are all accessible from the national RTEC web site (http://www.rtec.org). In particular, the following are recommended to planners:

Northwest Educational Technology Consortium (NETC)

The web site you are currently using was developed and is maintained by NETC.

Southwest RTEC at WestEd (SWRTEC)

The parent web site for WestEd (http://www.wested.org/cs/we/view/area/12) under the category "Policy" contains several documents which summarize research in regard to major issues in planning for technology, including:

North Central RTEC (NCRTEC)

This site (http://www.ncrtec.org/pe/index.html) has a subset on Planning and Evaluation containing research-based strategies for implementing technology and exploring its relationship to constructivist learning theory, including the enGauge framework and Pathways to School Improvement.
