Research Resource: CARET
The CARET Web site (http://caret.iste.org/), sponsored by ISTE and Educational Support Systems, is focused entirely on educational technology and is one of the most up-to-date sources of research-based information. In a section called "Questions and Answers" it presents analyses of research organized by questions that would be typical in any school or district. Specific categories under development include Administration and Leadership and Policy Implications. A number of topics already analyzed are also relevant to considerations during the development of policy, including Curriculum and Instruction, Staff Development and Assessment and Evaluation.
Items included in the site are identified in four types:
- General Articles and Expert Positions
- Descriptive and Survey Studies
- Formal Evaluation Studies
- Formal Research Studies
They are further screened and organized in three levels of rigor depending on the amount of evidence, level of replication, and other factors of research design.
