In the early grades
children explore with increased independence, and use manipulatives
to better understand abstract concepts and solve problems.
Each child
is an individual, and the range of abilities and needs in
a group of children is likely to be broad. Children
gain new skills and concepts in many ways, including through
games, music, artwork, computers, and other tools. They learn
and develop the ability to work together in groups, to logically
think through problems, and to adapt to new technology. As
children become increasingly proficient readers they may use
technology to access information and support and extend their
learning.
