Areas to consider when developing Videoconferencing Technology Delivery Systems

When you make the decision to use videoconferencing technology to deliver instruction and/or communicate with others, there are essential PLANNING STEPS with important components to developing appropriate educational programs for K-12 students. Through the experiences of educators nationally and regionally, a set of these components has been determined that will help every planner begin, and then move toward implementation.

  Write curriculum for teaching area  
Secure facility for teaching  
Secure videoconferencing hardware for teaching  
Receive training on use of hardware  
Determine existence of backup system for teaching hardware  
Write session plan for teaching area  
Secure/contact facilitator at remote sites  
Secure clerical and other support for teaching  
Secure technical support for class(es) for all sites  
Secure/insure maintenance of room/hardware for teaching  
Prepare handouts and documents for transmission  
Keep records: attendance, grades, etc.  
Administer tests, etc.  
Provide support for students at all sites  
Maintain contact with facilitator at each site
