Jane's comments on persuasive
presentation:
(transcription)
Jane Krauss (JK): There were some kids who
really had a good idea of what their, um...where they're going.
They had the organization very clear in their mind and so
they were able to go from point to point but extemporize along
the way. And some kids, particularly, were able to really
talk to their audience, which was Mr. Schmauzzel. It was almost
as if they, ah... It was much less like a speech and much
more like just a persuasive sell job.
Boy 1: I know that seems like a lot, but
it's well worth it. This is a once-in-a-lifetime trip.
(JK): I think next time I do this I'd work
more on persuasive language and how to...to be emphatic and
how to use your body in a way...to...to convey the message
that you want.
Mr. Schmauzzel: I'm impressed
with the kind of research you guys did, impressed with the
eye contact you had with the audience -- me, and how composed
you were!
