Inspiration is a visual learning tool that helps students to organize their thinking. Students use Inspiration to create and modify concept maps, webs, and other graphical organizers. An easy­to­use interface helps students focus on ideas, not the drawing process. An outline feature enables students to quickly prioritize and rearrange ideas, helping them create clear, concise writing.

Personal Digital Assistants (PDA)

Peter monitored group work with a handheld PDA manufactured by Apple Computer, Inc, called the Newton Message Pad. Like any professional, Peter finds the convenience of a PDA's size and the immediacy of touch pad entry useful for daily work. While this particular device is no longer available there are many such devices on the market, such as 3Com's PalmPilot or Handspring's Visor.

Learner Profile by Sunburst Communications, Inc. is software that Peter installed on his PDA. It supports import and export of student names, lists of "classroom observables" and observed data between a teacher's desktop computer and a PDA. Sunburst continues to market this product in Mac and Windows versions that work with the eMate, and a version for the PalmPilot is in development.
