Foundations Mid-Term
The mid-term sample below shows that students are assessed on country identification and map reading in Parts I-IV. In Part V students demonstrate construction and interpretation of charts and graphs.

PART I) The accompanying map of the western hemisphere shows countries numbered from 1-30. Match the names of countries to their locations on the map, then write the number showing your choice in the space to the left of the country name.

 

PART II) The map also shows a number of lettered locations. Match each geographical items with its closest letter on the map, then write the letter showing your choice in the space to the left of the geographical item.

 

PART III) The next set of questions offers a number of pairs of numbers (in parentheses) which represent points of latitude and longitude known as coordinates. Use the coordinates to locate the proper spot on the map, then choose the closest number or letter given as an answer option (in brackets). Write the letter or number of your choice in the space at the left of the coordinate item.

 

PART IV) Identify the latitude and longitude coordinates (+/- 5 degrees) of the following items on the map.
