Your job: You and your partners at Younameit Travel Agency will do research to plan a trip for the Schmauzzels. You will present your completed plan, or proposal, to them. Other 'travel agencies' in the class will also be making proposals. The Schmauzzels will pick one proposal for each region. Your agency will prepare two parts: One: a visual product such as a:
Two: a planned, practiced oral presentation you and your partners will make to the Schmauzzels. EVERY TRAVEL AGENCY will need the information below. |

NOTE: The links below will not work if Internet connectivity is not available.
|
Transportation: The Schmauzzel's plan to return to their cousin Georg's farm in Missouri between sections of the trip, so you'll want to plan transportation to and from Kansas City, Missouri. The Schmauzzels would like variety in their travel. They can travel by plane, train, or rental car. Use the Transportation Worksheet * for this part. |
Money: The Schmauzzel's don't have to worry about money but they would like to know how much this trip is going to cost. Use your expense worksheet to detail their finances. They brought German currency and you need to help them convert German Deutsch Marks into dollars. Another site to check. |
Interests: Gunter loves city life, Greta loves the outdoors, and Geiesle is up for anything, especially if it involves theme parks with roller coasters! In each region the family wants to visit at least:
|
Time: The family can travel for two to four weeks. Plan an itinerary for their trip. An itinerary is a schedule that shows travel, places, and events of the trip. Use the Generic Calendar * to show the itinerary. |
Weather: These folks need to know what to pack for their trip to your region. Get weather forcasts for precipitation and temperature, and any storm warnings. |
Regions: Each region of the U.S. is made up of a group of states. Use these links to get information about the states. |
You need to do Cities, National Park, and Transportation worksheets before you begin your final research. You can do them in any order but have each one checked before you begin the next one.
